Area wrestlers punch ticket to state meet

Two wrestlers from South Hardin-BCLUW's wrestling team and one each from Dike-New Hartford, AGWSR and Aplington-Parkersburg/Grundy Center will compete at this week's state tournament, beginning Thursday morning at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
 
Here's the schedule for the state meet and when area wrestlers will hit the mat for their first-round matches:
 
Thursday, Feb. 15
Class 2A session begins at 9 a.m., first round and 1st-round consolations
113 pounds – Taylor Kolthoff (SH-BCLUW, 29-7, soph.) vs. Nathaniel Genobana (Centerville, 29-2, fr.)
182 pounds – Hunter Maitland (A-P/GC, 33-7, sr.) vs. Kyler Fisher (Southeast Valley, 51-1, jr.)
285 pounds – Ryne Fuller (SH-BCLUW, 33-14, sr.) vs. Ross Wiertsema (Central Lyon/George-Little Rock, 30-6, sr.)
Class 1A session begins at 6 p.m., first round and 1st-round consolations
113 pounds – Trey Lashbrook (AGWSR, 39-4, fr.) vs. Jacob Moore (Denver, 28-1, soph.)
285 pounds – Chase Arends (D-NH, 42-6, sr.) vs. Josh Cox (Mount Ayr, 34-8, jr.)
 
Friday, Feb. 16
9 a.m.: Class 2A quarterfinals and 2nd-round consolations
2:30 p.m.: Class 1A quarterfinals and 2nd-round consolations, Class 2A semifinals and 3rd-round consolations
8:45 p.m.: Class 1A semifinals and 3rd-round consolations
 
Saturday, Feb. 17
10 a.m.: Class 2A and 1A consolation semifinals and finals
6 p.m.: Grand March and finals for all three classes
