The Grundy County Board of Supervisors held its organizational meeting on Monday morning, and Chuck Bakker was named the chairman of the board for 2017.

Bakker, a Republican who represents district three (Dike area), was recently re-elected in an uncontested race, and he will succeed Barb Smith as the chairperson. Republican Jim Ross of district five, who also won re-election in November, will serve as vice-chair. In addition, Smith, County Auditor Rhonda Deters and Sheriff Rick Penning were sworn into their positions after winning re-election. All three were Republicans who ran unopposed.

County Attorney Erika Allen briefly addressed the board about its compliance with the Red Flag Rule, but because the county doesn’t act as a creditor, no official action was necessary.
