BCLUW board elects officers for new school year

The BCLUW school board held a brief meeting to wrap up any business from the 2015-2016 school year on Monday night before reconvening to elect officers and open the 2016-2017 year.

Mary Beth Neff was once again nominated and elected school board president by a 5-0 vote (Brian Feldpausch was absent), and LJ Kopsa was re-nominated to serve as vice president. Committee assignments will be the same as last year, and Kopsa was re-appointed to serve on the Grundy County conference board. Eric Engle was re-appointed to the Marshall County conference board, and since the board does not currently have a member living in Hardin County, no appointment was made to that board. Neff was also appointed the delegate to the Iowa Association of School Boards convention in November.

The Grundy Register was approved as the official publication of the school district, and Craig, Smith and Cutler, LLP, of Eldora was retained as the general legal counsel. The board unanimously approved a resolution that allows for Superintendent Ben Petty to sign for checks.
