As the 50 seniors of the BCLUW class of 2016 walked across the stage to receive their high school diplomas on Sunday, emotions ran high among students, parents and staff members. It was a sad day as classmates prepare to enter the real world and head off in different directions, but also a day to celebrate and remember all of the memories and achievements for this class of Comets.

“As you leave, no matter where and when you go, we sincerely hope that we have prepared you well for the world you will enter and have given you roots here at BCLUW,” first-year high school principal Kristyn Kell said. “No matter how long you’ve been a Comet, your roots are here.”

Five senior speakers addressed the crowd in the high school gym—Hannah Sams, Olivia Callaway, Clark Stevens, Allison Fisher and Madison Van Cleave. The speakers reflected on both the journey that led the class to graduation day and the long road ahead.

“The day that we’ve worked for the last 13 years has finally come. Every late night study session, athletic practice, play practice, music rehearsal and early morning has led us here,” Fisher said. “I’m overwhelmed with joy when I think of all the memories we’ve made and even more excited to see what amazing things we’ll be able to do in the future.”
