Grundy County’s first summer celebration of the year (and, by all accounts, its oldest) is right around the corner, with the Beaman Memorial Day festivities set to kick off on Saturday morning.

As always, it will begin with the Firemen’s Breakfast from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. and the Pat Neff Two Mile Walk/Run at 9:00 a.m. The library will be open all morning, and the “Dinosaur Lady” will appear at noon. Kids games, including the bounce house and cake walk, will start at 10:00 a.m., and the pedal tractor pull will begin at 11:15 next to Farmer’s Savings Bank with winners advancing to the State Fair. Lunch will be served at the Memorial Hall as well.

On Monday morning, the traditional morning services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Vienna Cemetery and 10:30 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery with a lunch to follow. The famous afternoon program featuring a BCLUW band performance and citizen of the year honors will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the park.
