REINBECK – The annual Reinbeck Fourth of July celebration is right around the corner, and the celebration committee would like to invite community members from around the county to join them in this year’s festivities.
The event, which is organized annually by the Citizens for Reinbeck committee, will be held on Saturday, July 1 through Tuesday, July 4.
Elisabeth Bueghly, committee president, says the committee is excited to be able to showcase the city of Reinbeck while hosting a variety of fun, family friendly events over the Fourth of July weekend.
“I think the fourth of July celebration is a great asset to Reinbeck because we get to showcase our beautiful town and city parks and show others what a great place it is to live and raise a family,” Bueghly said. “The community really comes together to put on this show each year by donating the funds to make it all happen, giving great feedback and suggestions on new things to add to the event, and by all the great volunteers who come forward to help with all the events. We have such great community support.”
Bueghly said that any money raised or left over from each year’s festival goes right back into planning the next year’s celebration.
“When we have extra funds we always try to bring a new event or activity to keep the celebration growing,” she said.
This year, there are several new events and activities planned, including the first ever Fourth of July Beer Garden, which will be held from 3 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4.
Other major activities for the weekend include: the Dollars for Scholars Triathlon/Duathlon at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 1; the Fireman’s Dance at the Reinbeck Memorial Building at 9 p.m. on Monday, July 3; the coronation of Little Mr and Miss at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4 and the Grand Parade at 1:30 p.m. on July 4.
Other smaller activities throughout the weekend include: a movie in the park on Monday night, a fishing derby on Tuesday morning, a car show at the park on Tuesday, along with big wheel races, bingo, karaoke, a corn hole tournament, petting zoo, egg toss, laser tag, inflatable rides, face painting, hot dog eating contest, balloon animals, live music and more.
But one event not to miss is the Fireworks Show at 10 p.m. on Tuesday night.
“We always get great compliments on our firework show,” Bueghly said. “People come from all around to watch the show. It's a great way to end a fun day!”
The full Schedule of Events will be distributed throughout the businesses in Reinbeck and at Reinbeck City Hall. Information can also be found on the committee’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/groups/Reinbeck4thofJuly and from a link on the city website at www.reinbeck.org
