Conrad council considers consulting with ISU on 'comprehensive plan'

Members of the Conrad city council discussed an opportunity to work with Iowa State University students on a comprehensive plan—a wants and needs assessment for the community, of sorts—during Thursday night’s regular meeting, but no official action was taken as they plan to make a decision on whether or not to proceed next month.
           
“I’m not opposed to it, but there’s an in between step, I believe,” Councilman Todd Schnathorst said.
           
If the city agrees to the assessment, the students, who are studying urban planning, would hold focus groups, send out surveys and work with business owners to gauge what residents want, what they aren’t getting and how the situation can be improved. A similar study was conducted in 2008.
