Conrad council preliminarily approves location for food trucks

Food trucks will be allowed just outside of the former fire station on East Grundy Avenue in Conrad after the city council voted unanimously on Thursday night to approve a resolution that sets out rules and a proposed location.

Mayor Jeff Martin told the council that he had received an “overwhelming” number of comments for residents in support of the food trucks, and that was the main impetus for his call to action.

“I hear about it a lot, I’ll tell you that,” Martin said. “There are definitely people that want this. That’s really what’s driving me to do this.”

Council members then discussed days, hours and fees, eventually settling on a plan of Monday through Friday and a fee of $10 per day to the city. The space near the old fire station can hold two trucks at a time, and the policy is meant to mirror that of nearby Albion, where food trucks are often seen along Highway 330.
