D-NH board accepts bid for bleacher improvement project

Big improvements are coming soon to the Dike-New Hartford Junior High School football field, as the D-NH School Board voted on Monday night to approve a $166,900 bid to replace the bleachers and make improvements to the area surrounding them.

The project, which has been in the planning stages since last summer, comes as a result of the school board and administration looking to improve safety of the Junior High football and track field bleacher area.

“Our main goal is safety,” said D-NH Superintendent Justin Stockdale. “Our bleachers on the home side were starting to become unsafe, so we took those down right away and set up the portable bleachers.”

Now, as part of the upgrade project, the bleachers and surrounding area will see a number of improvements including: a new concrete slab for the mobile bleachers, which will be moved to the visitors side; the removal of the old concrete slab at the home side, and the addition of a new slab, where new ADA compliant angled bleachers will be built.
