Detour ahead: Highway 175 between Grundy Center, Morrison to close for five months

Travelers can expect delays and detours when driving between Grundy Center and Reinbeck this summer, as a bridge replacement project on the west side of Morrison will keep that portion of Highway 175 closed from April through August.

Late last month, the Iowa DOT announced that the bridge on the west side of Morrison will be replaced this summer, which requires closing the roadway to traffic between Grundy County Road T-47 (between Grundy Center and Morrison) and Grundy County Road T-53 in Morrison.

Work on the project began on April 1st and is expected to last until August 30th, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Marshalltown construction office.

For travelers going between Grundy Center, Morrison and Reinbeck, this means detours. During the closure, traffic will be detoured around the work zone using Iowa 14, County Road D-35 and County Road T-53. A map of the detour can be found on the Iowa DOT website or by      visiting https://www.news.iowadot.gov/files/iowa-175-morrison-detour-map.pdf
