GRUNDY CENTER – Brent Thoren saw last Wednesday's National Signing Day as a culmination of hard work from coaches, players and parents.

Grundy Center's football head coach spoke with pride about each of the athletes that committed to playing football at the next level in a special ceremony that brought four Spartans and their families together.

The Spartans' college-bound athletes include Jordan Hook to UNI, Nolan Freeman and Drew Rathe to Upper Iowa, Cade Rohler to Truman State and Josh Kuiper, who made his commitment to Central College official two days after signing day.

"It's a lot of effort from a lot of different people," Thoren said. "Those kids have put in a ton of time and sacrifice, everyone there has given so much to our program and it was gratifying that our kids put themselves in that position with early morning practices, long days of practice in the offseason. It was a gratifying moment for our program and our school."
