Grace Stalzer, sr. (9.2 ppg., 8.7 rpg., 2.5 apg., 2.7 spg.)
BCMoore computer prediction: AGWSR by 6
Outlook: Dunkerton and Janesville are the only two schools to unseat Colo-Nesco in 1A play, but recent losses to 3A Roland-Story and 4A Nevada have dropped the Royals out of the IGHSAU rankings, which has made room for a surging AGWSR club that has won 10 in a row heading into Friday’s game. Colo-Nesco’s bread and butter is defense, with a top-10 scoring defense that will try and slow down some big scoring options that the Cougars will bring to Colo on Friday.

Class 2A Region 5

Grundy Center (19-2) at North Linn (22-1)
When: 7 p.m.
Where: North Linn High School, Troy Mills
At stake: The winner plays either Rockford or West Fork in a regional final at Parkersburg on Monday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.
Grundy Center key players
Hailey Wallis, so. (16.4 ppg., 36.1 3-point %, 2.1 apg., 3.0 spg., 4.3 rpg.)
Brooke Flater, so. (9.7 ppg., 6.2 rpg., 2.0 apg., 2.6 spg.)
Reegan Zinkula, so. (6.6 ppg., 36.4 3-point %, 30 assists, 19 steals)
North Linn key players
Ashley Tull, jr. (14.9 ppg., 8.1 rpg., 2.7 bpg., 4.3 spg.)
Grace Flanagan, fr. (13.1 ppg., 32.5 3-point %, 3.5 rpg., 4.3 apg., 3.2 spg.)
Abby Flanagan, fr. (10.8 ppg., 44.2 3-point %, 3.9 rpg., 3.0 spg., 56 assists)
BCMoore computer prediction: North Linn by 23
Outlook: North Linn’s only loss came to 1A powerhouse Springville, 44-41, on Feb. 3. The Lynx have earned their No. 5 ranking in Class 2A, and as scrappy and never-say-die as this Grundy Center team is, the sophomore-heavy squad might just be a year away from taking on a team of this caliber.
Just don’t tell the Spartans that. Because they have shown their willingness to get the wins in the tough situations, like an exhausting 65-59 double overtime win over Sumner-Fredericksburg that got Grundy Center into this matchup with North Linn. If the Spartans can find a way to take away one part of the Lynx’s offense without getting burned by the other and put up good numbers of their own, they can push North Linn. But the Spartans will, once again, need to dig down deep.
