GC/G-R boys fight in loss to Sailors (PHOTOS)

REINBECK – The offensive opportunities weren't there often enough for Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys soccer in the opening game of the season against Waterloo Columbus.

GC/G-R played enough defense to give themselves a chance against the Sailors, ultimately falling short 2-1 on the pitch at Reinbeck last Tuesday night.

With a small roster of players off for spring break and weather preventing extended practice time, head coach Jon Dinsdale said GC/G-R isn't quite up to snuff yet.

"This is our third or fourth night outside and it's showing," Dinsdale said. "We're getting the cramps out, trying to get in shape still. Give us time, and we'll be alright."

GC/G-R bounced back with an 11-0 romp over Cedar Valley Christian on Tuesday.
