Kat Wild and Maddie McMartin were named to the second team of the Class 1A All-State Team, released by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association earlier this week, for their contributions to the Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls' soccer team this season.

The Rebel duo joins Erik Knaack, who earned honorable mention to the Class 1A all-state team by the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.

Wild, a senior, was a key part of the Rebels’ defense in GCGR’s 9-10 season that ended in a substate final with Nevada.

McMartin was the team’s leading scorer with 18 goals and three assists, tripling her scoring output from her freshman season.

Also earning second-team all-state honors was Hudson’s Emma Eden. Eden is a senior at Dike-New Hartford, which is in a sharing program with the Pirates. Hudson was 2-10 this season, bowing out to GCGR in a regional opener.

Knaack scored a team-leading 17 goals in his senior season for the GCGR boys team with seven assists for the Rebels in a 9-7 campaign that ended in the substate final against Garner-Hayfield-Ventura.

Knaack was part of two Rebel teams that made back to back appearances at the state tournament in 2015 and 2016, earning third-place trophies on both journeys to Des Moines.
