Chamber will celebrate 5th annual Taste of Grundy Center
GRUNDY CENTER – Next Thursday, twenty area vendors will invite the public to get a taste of the good life during the fifth annual Taste of Grundy Center.
Grundy Center Chamber of Commerce Director La Rae Randall said that this year’s event will offer community members all of their festival favorites and plenty of new fun as well.
“There’s going to be a lot of neat stuff going on. The farmer’s market will be going on at the same time so you can shop the vendors there and then go down and grab something to eat,” Randall said, adding that people should bring their dancing shoes because there will be live music as well.
One new addition to this year’s event is Touch A Truck. The event has been held here before, but not in conjunction with Taste of Grundy Center. Local organizations involved with this activity will be the GC Fire Dept. showing a fire truck and ambulance, the REC showing a boom truck, Engelkes & Abels Funeral home showing a hearse, and Titan Machinery showing a tractor.
Another new addition is a special Pie In The Face activity with the Grundy Center Police Dept. For $5, anyone can throw a pie in the face of a police officer, and the money raised will go to support the police department and the chamber.
“I’m not going to say one thing in particular that’s more exciting than the rest, but it’s not everyday you get to throw a pie in the face of a police officer,” Randall said.
