GRUNDY CENTER – Thursday afternoon kicks off this years Grundy Center Farmer’s Market season, with vendors from around the area selling everything from locally grown produce to baked goods to homemade jams and more.

Shari Sell-Bakker, who’s in charge of the Farmer’s Market committee, says there are several new vendors this year, along with returning vendors, who are offering plenty of fresh, locally-sourced produce and more.

“I would encourage people to come to the farmer’s market to support local agricultural businesses,” Sell-Bakker said. “The vendors who attend the Grundy Center Farmers Market are local and work hard to ensure a safe and healthy product for customers. In addition to delicious locally grown produce, we also have several vendors who bake delicious treats like pies, cakes and cupcakes, muffins and cinnamon rolls. By supporting the farmer’s market you are supporting local families with home businesses and returning money directly back into our local economy.”

Sell-Bakker said the Farmer’s Market, with all of it’s vendors, is a great asset to the community, and that she would encourage everyone to stop out to the market from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Thursday from now until September 20.
