ID by Katie will compete for chance to win $20,000

GRUNDY CENTER – Last Sunday, ID by Katie owner Katie McMartin was selected as the local winner of Main Street Grundy Center’s Open 4 Business competition. Now, she will compete against businesses from Main Street districts across the state for a chance to win the grand prize of $20,000.
McMartin’s business, ID by Katie, provides interior design services ranging from 3D renderings to new construction design to accessorizing and more. Though she’s relatively new to the business world, with four years of project experience under her belt, McMartin is confident that her business is growing, and she hopes the prize money will help her expand.
“My plan, whether I win the money or not, is to open up a storefront on Main Street,” McMartin said, adding that she has already secured space in the old Frederick Furniture chair shop, which she hopes to be moved into by early next year.
“It’s going to be a retail space where I can sell things like rugs, artwork and lighting, and also a showroom for things like kitchen cabinets,” she said. “And I will also do my regular consultation services there as well.”
