Larsen appointed mayor of Reinbeck

At their first meeting of the new year, the Reinbeck City Council voted to appoint council member Ash Larsen as mayor, after former mayor Tim Johnson resigned at the end of 2018.
 
Larsen indicated that he would take over as mayor until the next election. Council member Nathan Ragsdale remains mayor pro tem.
 
The council will appoint a new council member to fill Larsen’s spot at their next meeting in February. That appointee will be on the council until December, and then they would have the choice to re-run for a two year term at the next election.
 
In other news, the council discussed a possible new development in town - a proposed Dollar General - which would be located on the north side of Highway 175 across from Casey’s General Store.
