Letter to the editor

Hi Rob,
My daughters want me to ignore him. They are very upset about his name-calling. But I do have a rather well written letter I've worked on. But not sure what I'll do with it. I'd like to get in a one or two line stinger but haven't come up with anything yet.

And, yes, during my time as editor of The Record, I got lots of letters like his. Kids that have grown up here, having so many opportunities in a wonderful county, get good educations, go to college and/or move away...and look back and laugh at what they now see as backwards and stupid. Oh, they've gotten so much smarter.

Unfortunately, the writer doesn't seem to know that name-calling is the weakest point in an argument. Oh yes, I called a bunch of old fart farmers, old fart farmers. The difference is, I didn't attach any ones' name to that comment. I did, however, generalize, so if someone is offended, maybe they do fall into that category. (I've lived with one for close to 50 years, so I know of what I speak.) Also, because I still live here, I think I have a better feel for what's going on in the county and the people that he 'gleefully' laughs at.

I don't know, Rob...is this the letter I want you to print? Sure, go ahead.
