GRUNDY CENTER – Recently, the Main Street Grundy Center Board of Directors announced the selection of new executive director – Lisa Bienfang of Grundy Center – who takes over the position from previous director Bobbi Finarty.
“We’re happy to have Lisa as our new director,” said Dr. Paul Eberline, MSGC board president. “She has served on our volunteer board of directors for the past year, and demonstrated the drive to accomplish strategic goals. She brings strong communication and marketing skills to the post, and has experience in working for a community Main Street and Chamber organization.”
Bienfang says she's excited for her new position, and has a true passion for the Main Street mission.
Aside from her involvement in Main Street Grundy Center, she has worked closely with the Main Street Waterloo/Cedar Falls organizations, and was also involved with the Conrad Main Street organization. While living in Minnesota and working as the President/CEO of the Owatonna Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, she was a leading factor in bringing the Main Street organization not only into Owatonna, but into the state.
Bienfang counts this as one of her proudest accomplishments.
“They didn’t have a Main Street program, but I saw how beneficial it was here in Iowa,” Bienfang said. “There wasn’t even a state Main Street program like there is in Iowa, so we were kind of starting from scratch and it was a very unique program. But, the community bought in and the Main Street program continues to thrive there today.”
Here in Grundy Center she hopes to put her skills and expertise to use helping to guide the community’s Main Street mission and goals.
