ACKLEY – Strong finishes boosted the BCLUW volleyball team to a four-set victory over AGWSR in the North Iowa Cedar League West Conference finale here Thursday.

After the host Cougars took game one 25-21, the Comets battled back for set wins of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-20.

BCLUW finished the second set on a 6-0 spurt, the third game 9-2 and the fourth, 6-1.

“The moment we have some points scored on us or lose the lead the girls lose that confidence and start to play tentative. We need to step up and answer the other team’s run with our own run,” stated AGWSR coach Stacy Drake.

“We started off great and played with a lot of excitement. I’m very proud of the girls’ effort; we are continuing to get better,” added Drake.

The outcome left the Comets (17-13 overall) an even 3-3 in the conference for fourth while the Cougars (5-15) ended 1-5.
