As the two-month anniversary of the discovery of a Grundy Center man’s body in rural Floyd County approaches, authorities have released no new information pertaining to the suspected homicide death of Michael Johns.

“We continue to investigate, but we’re not releasing anything at this time,” said Mike Krapfl of the State Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Dubuque office.

Johns, who was 28, was found approximately 10 miles south of Charles City on December 1 after last being seen on surveillance video entering a gas station in the Greene area on October 26.

A spokesperson for the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office claimed she was completely unaware of the case when contacted for comment and later added that her department no longer had any involvement in the investigation.

Mitch Mortvedt, the assistant director of the Iowa DCI, referred an inquiry to Krapfl, who said he could not provide a definitive time frame on when a suspect may be charged with the crime.
