PARKERSBURG – Dylan Ohrt and Daniel Graves battled through harsh competition for second-place finishes in their weight classes, leading the way for Dike-New Hartford wrestling at Saturday's Keith Vry Invitational in Parkersburg.

Saturday's tournament featured three state-ranked teams and dozens of state-ranked wrestlers in a massive 17-team field.

Don Bosco, Class 1A's second-ranked team in the state per The Predicament newsmagazine, ran away with the team title with a 306 score. Crestwood, ranked in 2A, was second with 177 points. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows was third with 165 points.

The Wolverines finished in 11th place with 54 points. AGWSR earned 13th place in the team standings with only four wrestlers competing. Aplington-Parkersburg/Grundy Center, fielding just five wrestlers, placed 17th with six points.

Ohrt picked up a good win in the 120-pound semifinals with a 6-3 decision against AGWSR's Trey Lashbrook, a state medal winner last season and currently ranked 6th in 1A by The Predicament.

Don Bosco's Daniel Kimball, a state champion in Class 1A last season and South Dakota State commit, defeated Ohrt in the finals by a 21-8 major decision.

"Saturday was the most consistent he's looked against Lashbrook," D-NH head coach Tony Norton said. "He's one of those hard-working kids that has his nose to the grindstone. Things got away from him against Kimball – he was doing a good job against him and the wheels came off near the end. He's made a lot of improvements in the last 12 months."

Graves pinned his way to the championship match against Benton's Zach Crawford and Osage's Jett Nehls. However, Graves fell in the championship against Garet Sims of Iowa Valley, a state runner-up last year and top-ranked 220-pounder this winter, as Sims grabbed a quick first-period pinfall.

Lashbrook ended the day in third place at 120 pounds. The AGWSR grappler bounded back from the loss to Ohrt to claim a 3-0 win over Crestwood's Bryce Shea in the third-place match. Also winning placement for the Cougars on Saturday were Ali Gerbracht in 4th at 106 and Zach Johnson in 6th at 113.
