An old fashioned Christmas: GC Historical Society to host Christmas Open House

GRUNDY CENTER - Take a step into Christmas past as you visit the Grundy County Historical Society Museum this Thursday and Friday for the Historical Society’s “Old Fashioned Christmas” open house.
 
The Society’s open house will be held on Thursday, December 13 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Friday, December 14 from 1 to 4 p.m.
 
Community members are invited to enjoy some hot cider and fresh cookies while they peruse the museum, and check out the special Christmas exhibit: “Stitching up an old fashioned Christmas.”
 
The new exhibit will show visitors what Christmas looked like in the early days. With artifacts borrowed from the Grundy County Museum in Morrison, the display focuses on how Christmas was much more handmade, with handmade quilts and embroidery, old sewing machines and other items, and even a Christmas tree decorated by Historical Society members.
