GRUNDY CENTER - Last week, Operation Threshold received a $20,000 grant from Monsanto for the Grundy County Food Pantry, which will be used to help the pantry provide emergency food assistance to families and persons in Grundy County.

Jaynie Mason, Operation Threshold Grundy County Manager, says the organization is lucky to have generous contributors like Monsanto.

“We’re so lucky they stepped up and we’re fortunate to have the opportunity to keep serving families in Grundy County,” Mason said.

Mason says the organization has received grants from Monsanto before, but this is the biggest yet.

“We apply for different grants, but we also get a lot of donations from around the community, and we’re really thankful for those, too,” she said.

According to Mason, Operation Threshold of Grundy County serves anywhere from 60 to 80 families around the county, going through around 3,000 pounds of food each month on average.
