Reinbeck Daycare closes in on expansion project

REINBECK – For about a year now, the Little Rebels Learning Center in Reinbeck has been planning and campaigning for an addition that will provide much-needed space for the growing center.
Discussion over the need for an expansion was sparked last spring, as the Center was full to capacity with a waiting list of 21 kids. Without the extra space, the Center wouldn’t be able to accommodate families needing childcare or pre-school services.
So the Little Rebels Learning Center (LRLC) Director Robin Moore and the LRLC Board approached the Gladbrook-Reinbeck School District and the City of Reinbeck for help funding the project.
After securing $180,000 in funding from the school, $180,000 from the City, and another $180,000 in donations from different businesses, organizations and community members, the Center has met their fundraising goal and is now looking towards a spring groundbreaking for the new addition.
“We’re all really excited for the addition,” Moore said. “It’s amazing to see how much support we have. We had 139 sponsors – businesses, organizations and individuals – who helped us meet our fundraising goal. To me, that really shows that people recognize we’re running a quality Center. Families want to bring their kids here, and it just drives home the fact that we’re doing a good job.”
Most recently, The Mill Convenience Store in Holland donated $1,000 to the Center for the addition project. The Center also received a $25,000 donation from the Black Hawk County Gaming Association,$10,000 from the McElroy Trust, as well as donations from Lincoln Savings Bank in Reinbeck, Walmart and Scratch Cupcakes through Trunck’s Country Food.
Moore says the Center is currently working with an architect to finalize the plans for the addition, and that the project will go up for bid sometime in the near future.
Moore says she’s hopeful ground can be broke by spring, and that the new addition will be move-in ready by the end of the year.
