REINBECK - A Reinbeck man was arrested last week for allegedly exposing himself on a number of occasions around Cedar Falls.

35-year-old Benjamin Lewis Williams was taken into custody last Wednesday by the Iowa Falls Police Department after the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department issued several warrants on his behalf, including six for indecent exposure and three for third degree harassment.

Williams is accused of exposing himself at the University of Northern Iowa campus and around other areas of Cedar Falls.

According to reports, authorities received a number of calls about a man in Cedar Falls who would call people over to his vehicle and ask for directions to a nearby bar. When they approached the car, they noticed his genitals were exposed.

After witnesses told police the license plate number of the vehicle (which was registered to Williams) and picked his face out of a lineup, warrants were issued for his arrest, and he was picked up in Iowa Falls around 1:30 p.m. last Wednesday. Williams was released from custody the following day.

When asked if Williams could be a possible suspect in a case of indecent exposure at the Grundy County Lake near Dike two years ago - where a man reportedly exposed his genitals to a person jogging there - Grundy County Sheriff Rick Penning told The Grundy Register that his department is not investigating Williams as a suspect in that incident, but that they are investigating other suspects at this time.
