Rollover accident reported near Whitten
A teenage driver was transported to the Marshalltown hospital after a single vehicle rollover just east of Whitten in Grundy County last Wednesday afternoon.
Sixteen-year-old Makalah Reed of Whitten was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer on 305th Street just north of county road D65 at around 3:30 p.m. when she lost control on the gravel, entered the south ditch and rolled the vehicle over on its top. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000.
Although Reed was transported to the hospital, Sheriff Rick Penning reported that the accident was initially listed as property damage only, and the injuries were minor. The accident remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.
