School board approves 28E sharing agreements

GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy Center board of education approved 28E sharing agreements and adopted “The Promise To Iowa” during the regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, January 18.
Athletic programs being shared this season include boys and girls cross country, which will be shared with Gladbrook-Reinbeck. The agreement is evaluated at the close of each season, and can be dissolved by mutual agreement, or written request by either school. As part of the agreement, G-R will pay Grundy Center $150 per runner in seventh through twelfth grade.
Educational programs being shared include: Academic Decathlon, which is shared with Dike-New Hartford; the Reading Recovery Program, which is shared with Waterloo Community Schools; Cedar Valley West Consortium, which is shared with D-NH, G-R and Aplington-Parkersburg; the GC Learning Center Alternative School Program of GCCS, which is shared with D-NH, G-R, A-P, BCLUW and AGWSR; College-credit course instruction through Hawkeye Community College; Project Lead The Way (Western Outreach Consortium) through Hawkeye Community College; and Vocational Ag classes, which are currently being shared with BCLUW.
Along with athletic and educational programs, eight staff positions were also approved for sharing under the 28E agreement.
Those shared positions include: Business Manager, shared with Hudson; Curriculum Coordinator, shared with AGWSR at a 70/30 percent rate; Elementary Art Instructor, shared with G-R; Food Service Director, shared with A-P; K-12 Librarian, shared with G-R; Maintenance Director, shared with AGWSR; School Nurse, shared with BCLUW; and Transportation Director, shared with G-R.
