Jim Ross, who represents the southwest corner of Grundy County on the board of supervisors, will serve as the chairman in 2018 after accepting the nomination during Tuesday morning’s annual reorganizational meeting.

Ross will replace Chuck Bakker, who held the post in 2017, and Harlyn Riekena will serve as the vice chair. All of the board and commission appointments were approved with no changes, but the county is still looking for board members on both zoning and veteran’s affairs. Riekena will continue to serve as the county’s weed commissioner.

The board approved a host of other procedural matters during the brief meeting, including bank depositories, designating The Grundy Register and The Reinbeck Courier as official newspapers, designating the county engineer to approve farm-to-market construction projects, authorizing the auditor to issue warrants in vacation of the board.
