The Grundy County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the recommendations of the compensation board for elected official salaries in fiscal year 2018 during its regular meeting on Monday morning.

County Sheriff Rick Penning will once again be the highest paid elected official with an annual salary of $81,007.80, a three percent increase, and County Attorney Erika Allen will receive $61,473.56, also an increase of about three percent. County Auditor Rhonda Deters and Recorder Travis Case will both receive $57,405.02, and each of the five county supervisors will receive a $753.65 salary increase to a total of $25,875.46. Supervisor Barb Smith noted that only Page County in Iowa has more combined years of service on its board of supervisors than Grundy County. Currently, Grundy County ranks 62nd in Iowa in population out of 99 counties but only 92nd in supervisor pay.
