Supervisors approve contract increases for law enforcement, elected officials

The Grundy County Board of Supervisors okayed a three percent increase in the law enforcement contracts the sheriff’s office signs with communities in the county that don’t have police departments and approved a three percent pay increase for elected officials during Monday morning’s regular meeting.
           
According to Sheriff Rick Penning, the 2019-2020 figures for each city, with the exception of Grundy Center (which has its own department) will be as follows: in Reinbeck, the city would pay $119,646 with a requirement for two officers to live in town and a minimum of 225 monthly hours; in Conrad and Dike, the cost to each city would be $78,486 with one officer in each town and 150 monthly hours; in Wellsburg, the cost would be $45,174 with a requirement of one officer living in town and 85 monthly hours; and in Beaman, Holland, Morrison, and Stout, each community would contribute $2,953 with no officer requirement or minimum monthly hours threshold.
