Plans to construct a new parking garage on county property near the new annex building moved forward during Monday morning’s regular board of supervisors meeting.

Custodian Mark Jungling brought in an estimate that will likely cost the county somewhere between $15,000 and $20,000, and because it falls under a specified amount, the supervisors do not need to go through the traditional bidding process. An additional expense will eventually be incurred for electrical and concrete work. A motion to approve the plan carried unanimously.

Regional Coordinator of Disability Services Todd Rickert asked Jungling about the ramp at the annex building as he considers it a potential safety hazard.

“If somebody comes up in a wheelchair and starts jockeying around out front, they’re going to tip over,” he said.
