Supervisors re-adopt master matrix system

During a brief regular meeting on Monday morning, the Grundy County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to continue using the master matrix scoring system for confinement feeding operations.
           
As of last year, Grundy was one of 88 Iowa counties to employ the system, which scores applications on specifications such as setbacks and distances from other buildings. At least 15 county boards of supervisors have passed resolutions calling for reform or review of the matrix, charging that it does little to protect the environment and neighbors. A vote to adopt the matrix passed unanimously.
