Supervisors set public hearing on road vacation

After initially discussing the matter at last week’s meeting, the Grundy County Board of Supervisors agreed to set a public hearing on vacating a portion of 280th Street along the Grundy/Tama County line south of Grundy Center.
           
The public hearing will be held on December 18 at 9:05 a.m. County Engineer Gary Mauer reported that he has received four applications for the Grundy Center co-patrolman position thus far and said that the union representing county employees would make its initial proposal next week. Due to changes in the state’s collective bargaining laws for public employees, wages are now the only required item in negotiations.
