Traffic issues on G Avenue arise at city council meeting

GRUNDY CENTER – On Monday afternoon, traffic between the 400th and 500th block of G Avenue was disrupted after a truck parked in the westbound lane of the road, blocking the right lane of traffic.
At the Grundy Center city council meeting on Monday night, Chief of Police Doug Frost brought the event to the council’s attention.
“Today I had to move a contractor parked on G Avenue, between the 400 and 500 block. He decided to park there to go work on a house,” Frost said, noting that when he went to speak to the contractor, the man pointed out that there is no sign saying he couldn’t park there.
Frost said that technically there is no sign or ordinance stopping people from parking there, but that common sense would say not to park on a major highway and stop in a lane of traffic.
