Trio of local high school athletes compete at Drake Relays
DES MOINES – AGWSR’s Nathan Karsjens had the best finish of a local athlete at the Drake Relays last weekend, placing 10th in the discus throw at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Karsjens qualified for the final after tying for ninth place with Tyler Lienau of Jesup with a throw of 157 feet, 2 inches. That ended up being his best throw of the day in an event won by Mount Vernon’s Tristan Wirfs with a throw of 190-1.
AGWSR teammate Caleb Meinders was 15th in the shot put earlier in the weekend with a put of 51 feet even.
Dike-New Hartford’s Alayna Kollasch competed in the 3,000-meter run, placing 16th with a time of 10:38.36.
