The former Grundy Care Center nursing director who was charged with stealing opioids prescribed to her patients in 2015 has pled guilty to a pair of aggravated misdemeanors and will receive a two-year suspended prison sentence.

Laura Townsend-Edler, age 53, was convicted of Tampering with Records and Wanton Neglect of a Resident of a Health Care Facility on January 23, and as part of her plea, two felony counts of prohibited acts with a controlled substance were dismissed.

On the first two charges, she will be required to pay a total of $1,250 in fines with a 35 percent surcharge and remain on probation for two years.
