Weber, Rickert, Kuehl named 1st-team all-state

Dike-New Hartford's Amber Rickert and Morgan Weber were each first-team selections on the Class 2A all-state volleyball teams as selected by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association in teams released last week.
 
Gladbrook-Reinbeck sophomore Saari Kuehl was a first-team selection on the 1A team and Rebel teammate Madison Denny-Weber received 1A honorable mention. Grundy Center's Hailey Wallis and Kylie Willis received second-team nods on the 2A teams.
 
Rickert averaged 3.55 kills per set for the Wolverines, adding 37 ace serves, 36 total blocks and 2.55 digs per set. Weber contributed 3.40 kills per set, 52 aces, 3.45 digs per set and 19 blocks.
 
D-NH returned to the state tournament for a 12th-consecutive season this fall, but the Wolverines fell in the quarterfinals to eventual state runner-up Unity Christian.
 
In 98 sets, Kuehl bashed 456 kills for a 4.65 per-set average, the fourth-best mark of any 1A player. She added 35 ace serves, 2.45 digs per set and 12 blocks. Denny-Weber dished out the third-most assists of any 1A setter with 752 assists (8.26 per set), and added 11 blocks.
 
Gladbrook-Reinbeck reached the state tournament for the first time in 30 years this fall.
 
Wallis, a senior, averaged three kills per set with 318 spikes in 738 attempts for Grundy Center. She also had 32 ace serves, 2.29 digs per set and 60 total blocks in 106 sets.
 
Willis led the Spartans with 80 blocks, adding 2.7 kills and 1.98 digs per set and finishing her senior season with 43 ace serves.
