The city of Wellsburg has accepted a payment of $25,000 from the fire department in Livingston Manor, New York, and is moving forward with repairs to its recently purchased fire truck after a pair of recent council meetings.

According to the minutes of a special meeting held on April 20, the city council voted unanimously to accept the offer, which will cover the majority of the costs to repair the tank (estimated at $31,328). Wellsburg purchased the truck in January, and the issue was discovered during a mutual aid call with the Holland Fire Department.

Bascom Truck Repair of Des Moines is doing the work, and Fire Chief Greg Winger reported at Monday night’s regular meeting that the repairs are moving forward steadily.
