Wellsburg officially welcomes The Flower Farm to town

Wellsburg residents have known local native Marcia Stahl and seen the sign promoting her business just east of town for some time now, but late last year, she took the next step and moved The Flower Farm into the heart of the community on North Adams Street. Last Friday, business leaders formally marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception celebrating the new location.
           
Stahl ran the flower shop out of the former grocery store, R&M Foods, before it closed seven years ago, and in December, she officially returned to downtown Wellsburg.
           
“Being on Main Street made a big difference,” she said. “It has. (We’ve gotten) a lot more walk-in (traffic), a lot more.”
           
She’s been passionate about the flower business since moving to Ackley and operating a store there in the late 1990s but pursued other endeavors in search of a more steady income. Upon remarrying and landing back in Wellsburg, she rediscovered her former love and at one time even sold bridal and prom dresses. Stahl recently sold that inventory off and plans to focus on floral arrangements.
