Wilhau family directs $2,500 donation to GC FFA

Longtime area resident Sonja Wilhau and her son Nyle - who farm just south of town - recently received a $2,500 donation from the Monsanto Bayer Fund through the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program, which they directed to be donated to the Grundy Center High School FFA program.

Each year, America’s Farmers Grow Communities partners with farmers around the state to support nonprofit organizations strengthening rural communities. The program offers farmers the chance to direct a $2,500 donation to a nonprofit of their choice. So far, the fund has awarded more than $33 million to over 8,000 nonprofits across rural America.

“We wanted to donate to something local, and we decided on the Grundy Center FFA program,” Sonja said. “It’s a great opportunity to support those kids and give the program a boost.”

Sonja said both of her sons were involved in FFA when they were in school, so it’s a cause near and dear to their hearts.
