Wolverines settle in, beat Denver

DIKE – There's been a lot of moving parts to Dike-New Hartford volleyball's lineup as of late.

"Sometimes we don't know until the day of the game what we'll need our girls to do," D-NH head coach Diane Harms said.

Regardless of the lineup, the Wolverines helped themselves most on Tuesday, Oct. 2 against Denver when they took a breath and played closer to what Harms felt is their potential.

The Cyclones closed out the first set with an impressive run, but D-NH locked in for convincing victories in the next three sets and a four-set victory in Dike.

The 2A No. 7 Wolverines won 19-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-15. D-NH improved to 24-9 overall and 7-0 in the NICL East, clinching at least a share of the NICL East title. D-NH will play Jesup on Thursday in Dike for a chance at an undefeated league schedule and an outright claim to the league title.

Morgan Weber, working her way back into the lineup after missing a few games with an ankle sprain, had 12 kills, 19 digs and two blocks. Amber Rickert, also getting back into playing full rotations, had 18 kills and 14 digs and Audrey Rickert distributed 21 assists and was 29-of-29 serving with a team-leading six ace serves.

Sydney Lage was a game-time decision for Tuesday's game and Jenna Joslin ended up missing the game due to illness.

"We've had I don't know how many different lineups," Harms said, "but the girls have done a good job of adjusting to what we're asking."
