AGWSR baseball keeps it rolling

ACKLEY –The AGWSR baseball team registered a perfect work week with a 4-3 North Iowa Cedar League West Conference win over East Marshall.
  
The Cougars (4-8, 4-6) with just one win against eight losses entering the week, finished 3-0 over the past five days. AGWSR opened the week beating Gladbrook-Reinbeck, 7-3 last Monday followed by a 6-2 victory over BCLUW Wednesday.
  
“We have had good focus this week and took care of business,” said AGWSR coach David Showalter.
  
“Tonight we did a nice job of getting out of a couple tough situations, we responded well and really had a total team effort,” he added.
  
The Cougars tallied solo runs in the second and fourth frames followed by a two-run fifth.
  
In the fifth, Ben Macy lined a one-out single, stole second and raced home when Wyatt Benning reached base on a throwing error. Benning also robbed second and scored the eventual game-winner on Luke Starr’s base knock.
