AGWSR earns runner-up spot at St. Edmond duals

FORT DODGE – The AGWSR wrestling team fell just three points short of their goal to repeat as team champs at the St. Edmond duals on Saturday. Cougar head coach Chad Gerbracht speculated the long layoff and unpredictable weather may have contributed to the slow start when AGWSR fell in their opener to Roland Story 39-36.
“In reality there were five matches that we could have done better in,” Gerbracht said. “Regardless, we need to be match ready each day out. Come sectionals, if you’re not ready first round the best you can do is fifth place.”
After the loss to the Norsemen the Cougars got back on track and won four straight, topping Southeast Valley 48-23, St. Edmond 42-34, West Hancock 42-25, and Clarke 46-27.
