AGWSR off to good start with win over South Hardin
ACKLEY – AGWSR opened the 2014 season with a 19-6 win over neighboring South Hardin Friday night. After an early score by South Hardin, the Cougar used small, steady gains on offense to take control and dominate possession time, while holding the Tigers scoreless for the remainder.
The first points of the game came on an Eric Mulder 27-yard interception run for a Tiger touchdown in the first quarter. AGWSR soon answered with a Clay Meinders 46-yard scoring run to tie the game at 6-6.
The Cougars pulled ahead in the second period when Cody Williams called his own number and took the ball the final eight yards for a score to put AGWSR up 13-6 at the halfway mark.
