All-state soccer teams released

The Iowa Girls Coaches Association and Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association recently released their all-state soccer teams, with several area athletes recognized.
IGCA: In Class 1A, Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck's Maddie McMartin and Taylor Gienger, both seniors, received second-team all-state recognition. Ellie Foster of Hudson/Dike-New Hartford was also a second-team pick in her junior season with the Pirates.
IAHSSCA: Gienger and McMartin earned first-team all-state spots. Hudson/D-NH's Jessica Carolan, GC/G-R's senior goalkeeper Carsen Hamann and sophomore striker Jacque Kuester were awarded with honorable mention spots.
Hudson/D-NH's record was 8-8 this spring, ending the season in the regional semifinal against Dyersville Beckman. GC/G-R reached the regional final before bowing out to Gilbert to end a 13-6 season.
