Arlene Faye Schildroth

WATERLOO — Arlene Faye Schildroth, 92, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 10, 2025, at Friendship Village in Waterloo.

A funeral service will be Saturday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church of Waterloo.  Visitation will be at 10 a.m., also at the church.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery of Grundy Center.

Arlene was born June 1, 1932 to Reuben W. and Ella (Groth) Schildroth in Grundy Center. Following high school, Arlene earned a mission degree at Omaha Baptist Bible Institute.  Thus began her lifelong missionary career as “Miss Arlene” to children.  She served 43 years through Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), which included teaching Bible lessons, training teens and adults, and sharing a weekly radio Bible story.  Her desire was for every child to hear about saving faith through belief in her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Arlene was a faithful member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church of Waterloo for 66 years.  There she used her God-given talents to teach in Sunday School, VBS, Awana and Waterloo Christian School.  She also enjoyed daily Bible reading, sewing, quilting, gardening, and visits with family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are seven nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and great-nephews, and numerous friends and relatives.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: sisters Iva and Rachel Schildroth and brothers John, Ronald, and Marvin Schildroth.

Memorial gifts may be directed to CEF Black Hawk Chapter or Walnut Ridge Baptist Church for missions.

Locke Funeral Services is assisting the family.

Miss Arlene’s life verse was 2 Timothy 1:12 “…I know whom I have believed…”.
