Beck twirls no-hitter as Grundy Center softball beats East Marshall

LE GRAND – Emma Beck was credited with a no-hitter in a 2-1 Grundy Center softball win over East Marshall on Thursday, June 23.

Beck struck out 15 batters, hit one, and walked three more with one unearned run in the no-hitter. Grundy Center made two errors leading to East Marshall’s lone run of the game.

Lucy Lebo’s two-run home run in the fourth inning made the difference on the scoreboard, bringing home Taylor Stahl as well for a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth. East Marshall got one back in the bottom half but got no further against Beck and the Grundy defense.

The Spartans salvaged one win out of the three meetings with East Marshall after a tough doubleheader loss in Grundy Center on June 13.

D-NH 14, A-P 3 - Payton Nolan was 4-for-4 with three RBI and Shelby Ohrt added two hits and three RBI, including a double, for the Wolverines in the win. Taylor Kvale and Ella Costello kicked in two RBI each.

The Wolverines racked up 16 hits in the win.

“Our defense is probably our best suit right now,” D-NH catcher Payton Nolan said. “But our bats are coming back. They were down, but they’re coming back this week.”

South Hardin 11, AGWSR 1 – Hailey Rosonke was 3-for-4 with five runs batted in as South Hardin softball scored early and consistently in an 11-1 victory over AGWSR at South Hardin High School on Thursday, June 23.

Rosonke was also the winning pitcher, with one unearned run scoring on one hit with one walk and eight strikeouts.

AGWSR got on the board in the fifth when Ava Olson scored as a result of back-to-back errors.

Tessa Sperfslage had the only hit off Rosonke on Thursday with a single to leadoff the fourth inning.
