Board, Schutz debate administrative roles

GRUNDY CENTER — As the Grundy Center School Board last Wednesday discussed ways to save money in the Fiscal 2016 budget so that fewer staff cuts are needed, conversation turned to the role of administrators in the district.
Superintendent Jerry Schutz, who originally presented a budget reduction list that including cutting the Grundy Center Elementary principal to .5 Full Time Equivalent (FTE), suggested that the district would be better served with a full-time principal at the elementary building.
“I am very concerned about reducing the elementary principal to half time,” he said. “The building would be better served with a full-time principal.”
